Madd about the Caddies
Shows are never the same as when you were a kid, so I might be remembering the Madd Caddies with some rose coloured glasses. I remember having the time of my life watching lead singer 999 getting girls to make out for shirts, letting some guy sing a hardcore song about riding the bus, rocking out their first two albums at shows that seemed to come every year. Now I cannot remember the last time they came through town.
There are a few bands that used to frequent Winnipeg that haven’t been here in years. Death By Stereo is one that comes to mind. The last time I saw them was at whatever the downstairs of the Die Machine was called I think in 2005 with Protest the Hero.
The first time I saw Death By Stereo was with one of my favourite bands that came frequently, Good Riddance. The last time Good Riddance played in Winnipeg someone spit on Chuck, and then a fight almost ensued with Chuck yelling for people to kick the guys ass, and the Russ pleading for everyone to calm down. I never saw them again.
I guess that is enough nostalgia for now. Keep reading and look for new posts more frequently as the War On Music promotional campaign has been put into full swing.
