Bacteria Buffet Can Be Good For You

All five bands at the Bacteria Buffet send off really did a great job of give this label the farewell it certainly deserved. I was also pumped to hear Mike of RWPO say that the reason the label was shutting its doors was, becuase people don't buy CD's anymore. Buy CDs, it doesn't even have to be CDs, buy vinyl, buy cassettes. We have them all at War On Music, and a label local label that needs support.

Back to the show though. Greg Crowe started the show playing a brief set, in a lot of his recent wotk. He could be found later hanging out beside the mosh-pit watching the rest of the show after his set.

The Afterbeat were up next, and although they did not play too much old stuff due to the line-up changes over the years, but they made sure to bring back the old support staff and blasted out an almost seamless rendition of Me and You.

JFK and the Conspirators may have put on the best show of the night with their unique blend of reggae, ska, funk.

RWPO was as usual unusual. Coming out in togas to play their set Mike lost his before making it to the stage, so the set was played with a gitchy clad skinny Irish guy belting out some Royal Winnipeg Porn Orchestra favorites including a Prarie Town version that lasted about ten minutes - at least.

The Barrymores closed the show strong ditties such as By The Way I am Not Your Girl, and even a couple tracks from their very first self-titled album. It was nice to see the old crew back together after about five years, and it seemed like they must have practiced a little for the show becuase you couldn't tell that this group had been on hiatus previous to this show.

The only thing I would have changed would be having the sets go on three or four songs longer. The show was great either way, and it was a great send off to Bacteria Buffet, and some of their most influential bands.
Great show, great label. All the best to the bands and people involved over the years.
