9. Dag Nasty - Can I Say?
What Can I Say? About this album. Well let me say this first of all - I know that some people like my friend John McCown who shreds for the Afterlife ( see them Feb 10 at the Cavern) doesn’t appreciate their stylings because he says that they are a Minor Threat knock off. Granted they have a hint of Minor Threat, but for myself it is different enough that that similarity adds to the enjoyment for me.
Dag Nasty is like Minor Threat light, not that it is watered down, but it is a more mainstream sound, so militant punks may think it is watered down. I’m just trying to give the straight goods on my favourite used albums this year.
My favourite tunes on this disc are What Next?, Never Go Back, and Justification.
The review may not be the most complimentary, but it is a unique sound, and great, as much as it occasionally has Minor Threat influence.
